Programs

To deliver outcomes, Austroads takes the program management approach, which allows us to identify, deliver and manage actions addressing Austroads strategic priorities. Each program undertakes a range of projects that will address these priorities.

Austroads utilises the expertise of its member organisations to deliver these programs. This encourages a collaborative approach and facilitates learning, development, sharing and a high level of consistency across jurisdictions.

Each program is headed by a program manager. Program managers are senior managers within Austroads member organisations who are responsible for one program for a proportion of their time in conjunction with their responsibilities within their own organisations. They develop and manage a work program of projects that align with the strategic priorities. Program managers report directly to the board.

The programs are supported by a group of representatives from member organisations to identify and develop project proposals related to the objectives of the strategic plan; oversee projects; promote the dissemination of results and provide a forum for the exchange of information between Austroads’ members and related organisations. Some groups also include representation from observers and other stakeholder organisations. They also oversee the updating of Austroads guides and provide a forum to develop consistent and improved practice.
