Network Operations

The current objective of the Network program is to focus research in improving the productivity and reliability of the road network in moving people and goods. It does this through several working groups including the Network task force, Traffic Management review panel and Australian Bicycle Council.

The work of the program is to focus on delivering outcomes that support strategic priorities such as managing traffic control through a network approach, supporting sustainable transport modes, managing demand by all user groups and leading strategic technical developments.

The role of the network task force is to assist road and transport agencies in their efforts to optimise utilisation of the road network through undertaking strategic research to gather intelligence and improving tools and techniques of network management.

The network strategic research program is targeted to address the priorities identified in the Austroads Strategic Plan.
